Woodstock
Now before you read this, be forewarned: I was born in 1990, so it's very possible that someone of my generation may fail to recognize the historical importance of a bunch of dumbass hippies getting baked in a field, but I just don't really understand.
Sure, you can go on about unity and togetherness and "three days of peace and music" (gag), but I hazard a guess that the lovey-dovey feeling everyone had at Woodstock was because of the massive pot cloud inhabiting the general area. I imagine that such a feeling is no different than the feeling that inspired one drunk man to repeatedly yell "Tommy fuckin' Shaw!" at a Styx concert I attended last year; that feeling, of course, being inebriation.
I also have to wonder how many of these hippies who spent three days in a field smoking marijuana have grown up to become boring, white, liberal suburbanites who are deeply concerned with the amount of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere. If global warming is real, than I seriously doubt that the amount of weed smoked at Woodstock did anything to help co2 levels.
(And I'm no fucking scientist or anything, but when the Climatic Research Unit of the University of East Anglia, a leader in climate change research, has to hide data that doesn't support the idea of climate change being caused by humans, then you really have to wonder if maybe the whole idea is a bunch of shit)
I know that my viewpoint on the whole thing may be (and probably is) irrational, but the fact remains that seeing a picture of a bunch of long haired 20-somethings sitting on top of a rainbow colored bus makes me want to shit blood. Maybe your opinion is different, in which case it is perfectly valid. But so is mine, goddamnit.

Unnecessarily graphic story #1
You know when you finish a roll of toilet paper, and it's just that tube that the paper comes on?
Yeah.
When I was a little kid and I ran out of toilet paper, I'd wipe my ass on that tube.
True story.
Yeah.
When I was a little kid and I ran out of toilet paper, I'd wipe my ass on that tube.
True story.
Interesting story
I was with my family today, visiting my grandmother. Now, visit's to my grandmother's home are always "interesting" in the worst sense of the word, but that's for another time.
But anyway, there we are, I'm sitting there, bored as hell, spacing out as I normally do.
Somehow the conversation got on to my grandmother's machete and mace, and next thing I know, everyone's looking at this huge ass knife, and a stick with spikes sticking out of it. All this lovely merchandise belongs to my 83 year old grandmother. Yowza.

Our standards got multiplied by 2, so now they're double!

Michael Vick's road back to the NFL has been tumultuous as it has been circuitous. But for many, including the organization he now represents, his story has been inspiring.
The Philadelphia Eagles announced today that Vick has been named the team's Ed Block Courage Award recipient of 2009.
Here is the team's official press release:
Each year, the Ed Block Courage Award honors those National Football League players who exemplify commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage. They are selected in a vote by their teammates for team effort as well as individual performance.
Vick joined the Eagles during the 2009 preseason and has played in 12 games, completing six of 13 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. He has also rushed 24 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns. All three of his touchdowns have come in the last three games.
Is this fucking serious? If any normal person with a real vocation had been prosecuted for running an illegal dog fighting league, they would have been out on their ass. Fired. S.O.L. Fucked.
But not Michael Vick, oh no. This fuckhead not only gets his job back, but gets an award? For showing "principles of sportsmanship and courage"? My ass. There is nothing courageous about Vick getting resigned. A courageous act would have been for him to suck it up, swallow his pride, and get a real job.
And the bad part about this is, nobody seems to care. Obviously people are still dumping money into the Philedelphia Eagles. Why? If you bitch and moan about professional athletes like Vick being overpaid and being exempt from punishment for repulsive behavior, then boycott the league!
That's another thing: How many people who say that professional athletes are overpaid will continue to put money into these sports franchises, and as a result enable the athletes to make a ridiculous amount of money? I don't think many people realize this, but by spending money on something, a person creates demand for that something, be it a product, a service, or a franchise like the Eagles. If you really think that signing Vick was fucked up, do the right thing and boycott the Eagles.
Hell, boycott the entire NFL. Football is boring. I'd rather be playing video games, or watching Ren & Stimpy or something. Yeah, I know, not watching the sports is "gay" or whatever, but I'd be doing the same thing as you: Sitting in front of a TV. That's it.
